Fruit Ninja Classic 3.9.0

Fruit Ninja has been well on my radar for some years, yet I never was truly interested in trying it out. Today however I woke up realizing that I had installed it on my tablet last week while romping through the play store. So it's only fair to take a look at it. These days Fruit Ninja comes in two flavors, free and not free. Obviously I installed the free version since I don't see myself pay for slicing fruit in half. I can do that for free in my kitchen and also enjoy a healthy fruit juice afterwards.

Fruit Ninja offers a lot of play modes, all requiring you to slice 'good things' like fruits or special fruits and avoid slicing 'bad things' like bombs or red bordered fruits. I originally started swiping my index finger left and right across the bottom of the screen, which easily gave me 95% slice rate. However when bombs started to appear or when playing with the AI opponent, that strategy is no longer valid.

The multiplayer mode reminded me of the good old days of split-screen gaming. I actually see this as the best way to play it since I found the game to be a bit on the boring side. However, when trying out the multiplayer mode, I realized that Fruit Ninja supports two fingers slicing around at the same time, so I though it should support more. I was right! I now use my claw to cut fruits instead of a ninja sword. Who would have thought?

Fruit Ninja also features all sorts of stars, golden fruit, XP levels and unlockable AI opponents, but with all of this variety, it simply fails to be more interesting that its original premise allows. Frantically swiping your finger (or claw) on the screen is only so much fun as your hand muscles allow it, or until your brain starts demanding something more meaty (no pun intended).
